The summer is always filled with carnivals, fairs and festivals in small Belgian towns. This one particular evening, we heard laughter and music coming from the square in front of our house. Turns out some folky song and dance groups were dropping by our tiny town. A big bus was parked in front of the town hall, and a group of beautiful Polish women in traditional dresses and flower crowns were prepping their act around the corner of the local pub. Sadly, a storm was brewing and the evening got rained out, but their singing was amazing.
No pictures of the event, except in the distance behind me in the twirling photo! My outfit was perfectly appropriate for the event, I looked proper Maria Von Trapp in my minty dirndl silhouette. (Yes I know that the Von Trapps are Austrian rather than Polish, BUT STILL APPROPRIATEly retro-folky!) I’ve had this dress for about 6 years after buying it for 5€ at the H&M sales and I still love it to pieces, even though I can’t really wear a bra with it.
