So the other day at school, I was walking between buildings when I saw a guy with a huge video camera, filming another woman who looked like a newscaster. She was standing on the sidewalk and as I passed by, she said (to the camera) “Parental outrage that these flasks are being marketed to teens…” and held a tacky purple, bejewled flask in front of the camera. I figured they were doing some sort of special report and wanted to get a shot with teenagers walking around in the background.
AND THEN I was watching 30 Rock (it was hilarious btw) and saw a preview… “Tonight at 11 – is this store targeting teens with too grown-up products?” and thought it might be the story they were filming at my school, so of course I stayed up to watch. Sure enough, the anchor started off with the story and they showed clips of typical people on the street saying “It promotes teen drinking, it’s an outrage, what’s happening to our society blah blah blah”…
and then…
NOTHING. they didn’t even use the clip they shot at my school! It was such a letdown! Maybe it was because as i was walking by, I sort of awkwardly stopped and turned to watch for a second and got into the frame. :/
But it was amusing when they showed the statement from the company (Claire’s) saying that the intended customer was a “23-year-old professional woman”… Bullshit. No self-respecting 23-year-old would set foot in a Claire’s store. I used to shop at that store…when I was 10.
Oh wait, I almost forgot, I wore an outfit today. See? It was supposed to be based on this Edward Gorey drawing, but then ended up being loosely inspired by it…kindasorta. I knew I should’ve worn my black ostrich feather.
