We’ve had some reasonable weather recently so I finally got to raid my summer wardrobe earlier this week. I’m a penpusher by day and I do relish the summer months because I get a chance to get out of the blacks and greys that I live in for most of my working life.
Now, I am not a suit kind of girl – I think I may have previously promised that if you ever catch me in an Apprentice style grey trouser suit you’re welcome to throw me out the nearest window – but when I first got my job after graduating in 2007 I did buy myself a cream skirt/trouser suit from Ted Baker and this is the skirt. I don’t often wear more than one bit of it at a time, but even then I wouldn’t put it in The City Suit Doldrums because it’s got a bit of a 40s vibe going on what with the colour and the 3/4 length skirt. Which, btw, necessitates a heel. Wear a 3/4 length skirt with flats and you’ll look like a 6 year old dressing up in your mum’s clothes. That’s not to say I’m not guilty of looking like that on occasion, but it’s not an ideal look for work.
