We love your vintage finds! Although you’ve indicated that you’re a fashion junkie since birth, how and when did you incorporate vintage finds into your style?
Jessica: I started thrifting when I was 8. My grandmother took me with her and would let me pick out things Punky Brewster would wear. I was addicted after that and probably the weirdest little kid in school cause I would dress like people on TV as if it was normal.
So tell us, how did you come up with your blog’s name, Ms. Vintage Virgin? What made you decide to start blogging?
Vintage comes for my love for all things vintage and Virgin is my last name. I hated it growing up but now it definitely helps me stand out amongst others. I started blogging cause I wanted to share my vintage craziness with the world and show people how to wear it without looking dated.
Being a mom is hard, but being a fashionable mom might just be harder! A lot of times, moms have to sacrifice their style in order to fit a “mom mold.” Do you think that your son has influenced your style or has it changed it?
It’s not as hard as you think. It’s all about balance. I used to dress even more outrageous believe it or not but once my son started school I toned it way down. He’s my biggest supporter and encourages me to dress up. As long as I carry myself like a mother then it shouldn’t matter what I wear.
Though you’re a self-proclaimed “Vintage Junkie,” where do you currently draw your inspiration from?
I’m old school and grew up watching [black and white] movies, lots of TV and music videos. I will always draw inspiration from the 50s, 60s and 70s as far as how they complete the full outfit from head to toe. I don’t know, I think I’m inspired by everything around me as cliché as that sounds. With social media networks like Tumblr, Instagram and Pinterest there’s so many different fashion outlets and ways to be inspired.
How would you tell Chictopians to find their style niche?
Try out different styles or things you like until you feel comfortable. You don’t have to fall victim to every trend just ’cause everyone else is doing it. Who knows, your style may be the next big thing!
Not only does Chictopia feature style, they also sell clothes! What are your top 8 items from Chictopia Shop?
Top 8 are…
1. 1980s USA Handpainted Jean Jacket (Thrifted & Modern, $288)
2. SignedEmilio Pucci 1960s Dress (Thrifted & Modern, $788)
3. Kenny Baja Shorts (Koshka, $130)
4. Warning Bracelet (Joa+Closet, $22)

Staple items are practically necessary! What are 3-4 staple items that every Chictopian should have in their closets?
A good leather motorcycle jacket, wedges, statement bag and lots of jewelry.
What’s your most favorite trend this summer?
Platform wedges. I’ve invested in quite a few.
