Well guys, this is it. I’ve decided that my run with Coed Ugly has reached its end. I feel there is nothing else I can contribute since, as an upperclassman, I’ve already reached my prime and it’s time to move on to other things. I had a blast writing for this blog and I thank all of my faithful readers for sticking with me until the end. All good things must come to an end, haha.
My last piece of advice for this blog is a cliche I have emphasized many times in my other posts: BE YOURSELF! With the rise of the internet which makes it easier for people to connect and share their individual styles, the greatest criticism against fashion blogs or networking sites stems from an alleged inability to distinguish how genuinely personal one’s style can actually be in a place where its constituents subscribe to the same trends or styles.
My response? Of course it’s still personal! No matter how you look at it, an individual’s free will plays an important part in choosing what is donned and what is not. Sure, it may seem like everyone may have drop crotch pants or oxford booties but in truth, no two outfits will ever look completely the same. It all depends on how you wear it and not how it wears you! If anything, I see fashion blogs and networking sites as a positive means through which users can develop and perfect their individual personal styles by realizing where they stand in comparison to fellow peers.
I can safely say that, after six years of developing my personal style on and off of the internet, I’ve managed to find what I consider to be my niche and comfort zone when it comes to the clothing I wear. I am aware of the fact that things may be different in a year, month, or perhaps even a week but I’ve learned to allow myself the flexibility of change while still retaining some part of my personality and sense of self. The learning process is what makes it most fun, after all!
If you told me two years ago that, despite my tall stature, I would be donning 4.2 inch Prada heels on a daily basis, I probably would have laughed it off incredulously. Look at me now! I’m running around in shoes which make me over 6 feet tall but I still find time to wear my usual plaid shirt + skinny jeans + sneakers combination. Just be open to new things while still staying true to your personal identity and I promise you will reach the same point I have in the near future. That is, if you haven’t already! Of course times will always change and the learning process will run in cycles but like I said before, the best part is not the goal but rather the process. Just don’t give up!
Well, that’s enough of that. I promise my outfit posts won’t come to an end, though. You can still catch me at my personal blog or various ramblings at tumblr. I know I’ve been a lousy poster in the past but some of you may have noticed that I’ve become much more active this past week! I will definitely keep you guys updated.
Once again, I love you all and thank you for making this enjoyable! Please don’t hesitate to shoot me questions through my personal blog. I’m always available to help people out so message me if you want my email.
xoxo,
annabel
