Blessed are we to be from San Francisco, a city with endless entertainment, great shopping, and even better food. But one thing many people think San Francisco is lacking is a fashion scene, and while that’s up for debate, what we can hold to is that there have been a number of famed photographers, designers, models, and beyond, all of whom call this city home. Since we’re all about runway shows, today we turn our attention to five Bay Area-based models who are out there heating up the world, ranging from fashion experienced to up-and-coming.
1. Mackenzie Drazen
Mother Agency: Stars Model Management
Claim to fame: If you follow fashion week at all (that’s New York, Paris, London, and more, ya’ll), you’ve seen Mackenzie Drazen. If you don’t follow fashion week but read Vogue Magazine – well, chances are you’ve stumbled across this young beauty at least once before. After signing to Stars Model Management in San Francisco just about two years ago, Mackenzie found herself walking in the Valentino Haute Couture show shortly thereafter. Since then, she’s been able to put Chanel, Alexander Wang, Viktor & Rolf, Dior, and more on her runway resume. Expect to see more of this young beauty this upcoming fashion week…and beyond. In addition, Mackenzie is an established equestrian.
2. Vladimir Ivanov
Mother Agency: JE Model
Claim to fame: The Russian-born model with the chiseled features has walked for the likes of Dsquared2, Hugo Boss, Roberto Cavalli, Versace, and Dolce & Gabbana, to name a few. However, he’s probably best known as the darling of Calvin Klein, having starred in numerous ads over the course of the last few years, even alongside Lara Stone. And if you somehow have never seen him there, surely you’ve seen his ads for H&M. In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar and watching the Simpsons.
3. Chris Petersen
Mother Agency: Specimen Model Management
Claim to fame: Scouted while exiting a Victoria’s Secret store where he was shopping with his now ex-girlfriend, Chris’ first job was not small – walking exclusively for Givenchy during Spring/Summer 2012 fashion week. He has since walked for Emporio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Mugler, and more. With publications coming through various European magazines, the future is looking bright for Chris.
4. Sterling Clairmont
Mother Agency: Vision Los Angeles
Claim to fame: With her understated, elegant but unique beauty, Sterling is a sight with strong, piercing eyes. Originally from Pleasant Hill, California, Sterling shows much potential and has nabbed catalog or campaign work for the likes of Planet Blue, Nordstrom and Guess. Her latest success was a winter editorial for Fashion Gone Rogue called “Too Cool,” which captured the attention of many readers and surely garnered her many fans. Having signed to Women Model Management, we’re hoping to see this young looker in this coming fashion week.
5. Alwyn Lansing
Mother Agency: Stars Model Management
Claim to Fame: A Bay Area native I have personally had the pleasure of photographing, Alwyn’s seeming big break would be from the E! Network’s show called “Scouted.” Though many a model-enthusiast would scoff at the notion that potential be discovered from a reality TV show, I think it goes without saying that Alwyn has something special that would have been discovered eventually, with or without the show. Since, she has signed to One Model Management in New York. We could see her face on the Prada runway, and hope that happens for her eventually.
