so they’ve taken down the glittery balls at the corner of avenue franklin roosevelt and the champs-elysees as well as the ferris wheel in place de la concorde. it feels weird not having the christmas decorations up.
it’s cold, it’s rainy, most of my friends have gone back, and class is over. i dont really have a purpose in paris anymore. i came here, lived my dream and a hundred more i never knew i had (i.e. fashion week, meeting alber elbaz, general getting to wake up to this magnificence every single day).
hopefully, i’ll be back sometime very soon. i dont even just want to visit..im thinking more along the lines of grad school. i would like to go back down south during the warmer months because living on the beach in cannes was the resort life i always dreamed it would be. but for now, it’s back to packing up paris in two suitcases, three boxes, to head back home to the bay tomorrow.
my last day was eventful, though. i had lunch in cafe de flore across from princess caroline of monaco and ernst of hannover. they also called charlotte on ernst’s cellphone when these two turkish girls came up to them to ask them to come to their fashion show. it was so cute because ernst was teasing charlotte (casiraghi! omg ive loved her for so long) as their “fashion expert”. really cute family jokes ensued. he’s like this jolly german guy and she’s this totally classy woman without an air of arrogance. haha i was totally ogling them from my table. they spoke in english too, which was kind of surprising.
i cant believe that you just randomly see royalty when you go to lunch. it’s just another one of those crazy things that only happen to me in paris. :( it’ll be so sad if i never have this again in my life. everything was magical.
anyway, dont get the magret de canard salad at cafe de flore. it’s much better at les deux magots and they throw in some nice terrine de foie gras and brioche with theirs. i did love the hot chocolat though. they serve it in a huge pitcher and for all my fat, i couldnt even finish it. it was DELICIOUS. best chocolate i’ve had since i can remember. it was as shame we never made it over to angelina by the tuileries but today was extremely extremely hectic.
right. so back to my packing or ill never get any of this done. ive already had to ship three boxes out and my baggage will still be terribly overweight, but i think i’ll live. luckily, british airways doesnt have back breaking overweight baggage fees.
can’t wait to see the sun in california.

if you are lucky enough to have lived in paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for paris is a moveable feast.
