I was about 12 years old when I went to my first soiree back in grade 7. Coming from an exclusive all-girls school, it was necessary to find different ways to meet and “interact” with boys. (hee-hee) So we would “arrange” get togethers or soirees with classes from boys schools and we would prepare games, ice breakers, food etc. That was the first time I was going to go “out-at-night”. I headed downstairs to seek my father’s approval for my outfit and much to my surprise he didn’t approve. He said; “When you go out at night, you’re supposed to wear dark colors. You don’t wear orange at night…go up and change”
Wowowowow. Twelve year old Lexi ran up and took daddy’s advice. I didn’t want to go to my first soiree/outing at night in a fashion-faux-pas color such as orange (according to my dad) at night.
Unfortunately, eight years later I’m not listening to his advice anymore.
