So for this look I was insanely inspired by Ravenna and her costumes. I’ll work from the top to the bottom and explain each bit.
Around my neck I wore a gold chain, tripled up and then a necklace with a gold birds skull. This was taken from the costume with the bird skull details all along the front and around the neckline. The hanging chains where also inspired by that outfit and the chains hanging from her crown and framing her face.
I then chose the Rorschach printed shirt, which I painted by hand, to represent and reflect of of both the insanity and vanity of Ravenna and how they tie together. The pattern is a perfect mirror image, like the magic mirror the queen owns, and Rorschach tests are a one method used to test the psyche.
The bronzeish shorts are sort of touching on the colour palette of Ravenna’s wedding dress. The dress is a classic white with the sort of twist having the large cages of bones around her shoulders. I loved this aspect of the costume and wanted to reflect it in the colour of my shorts. I also loved the idea of “rotting beauty” in a lot of her costumes and wanted a sort of dirty yet pretty colour to show that.
The platform boots represent a sense of power and greatness that comes with height. Ravenna has her throne and I have my platforms. I feel empowered, strong, and a little evil when i wear these boots but I love them.
