When I started this little adventure last year, there were the things that I expected: (1) the initial anxiety about being in front of the camera so frequently, and oftentimes in public; (2) the joy from being able to combine several of my favorite pastimes (writing, shopping, styling) into one collective; (3) the constant battle with time due to my commitments as a fairly overworked civil litigation attorney with an unhealthy (but completely normal in this profession) obsession with the billable hour; (4) the wanting to throw my laptop across the room at times because of the frustration that comes with being the least computer savvy person in the universe, just to name a few. And while Resort Rock Sugar was born from my desire to share my passion for fashion with old friends and new, I did not anticipate becoming improved by the experience. And yet, I’d say the unexpected has become the most rewarding part of it. This outfit is just one example. I’ve always loved Helmut Lang, but I would have never before considered a minimalist dress like this, and definitely not with a bright turquoise bag. And here I am now.
