I don't like to mix gold and silver. Even the silver buttons on my shorts in contrast to my gold rings bothers me. What's your take on mixing gold and silver?

I’ve been busy at the work station with DIY projects, so what better way to showcase than in one posting. (ok not all of them, just 2).

‘spine’ cutout tee and studded boots.

as you can see, it doesn’t look like a spine but i’m pretty satisfied with the way it turned out. i took inspiration from camille’s pleasure of principle blog entry. after completion, i thought the front of the shirt was too plain so i made a modification by making holes in the front also.

my studded boots take inspiration from the $400 free people studded boots. for some reason i thought the studs were gold, so I sprayed some gold studs with bronzer so they wouldn’t be so ‘jingle bell looking’. even after realizing the studs are actually silver, i’m still really happy with the way my boots turned out, even the wooden looking heel. it gives it something extra i think.

im all about mixing gold and silver...its my favorite thing at the momment...you just have to pick the gold or the silver as the accent!

Killer boots! Love them! I've been thinking about doing this to a pair of my own but they're one of my faves & I'd be so heartbroken if I messed up! Yours turned out great!

if theyre your favorite i say don't risk it. i would scout SA or goodwilll first, that is unless you're not too creeped out wearing other people's stuff. or even ross/marshalls. i should have thought of that before buying these aldos for my diy!

love your diy! i know what you mean about mixing gold and silver. usually if i have to i make it look more deliberate by adding gold and silver rings or necklaces layered together.

the good thing is that materials for DIY usually pretty cheap. i.e. hanes tshirt tank etc. so really all you need to invest is your time and effort so don't be afraid to make mistakes. sometimes 'mistakes' turn out better than the original!
