There is a point in most girl’s life when they realize that their wardrobe needs a major overhaul. For some, it comes earlier than others; the need for change may be sparked by new interest in fashion and dressing ‘well’ or it might be a necessary change due to a new job. Whatever the reason, your wardrobe needs work and renovating your entire wardrobe is a hefty task that will take some sort of planning or no progress will be made.
Rebuilding your current wardrobe can be a difficult process and oftentimes the search for the perfect wardrobe is a lifelong process, but in this and the next upcoming articles, I’ll be helping set you in the right direction when it comes to creating your ideal wardrobe.
First things first, before you consider revitalizing that wardrobe of yours with newer, better clothes, you’ll need to purge your current one. Go through all of your clothes/shoes/accessories and divide them into two sections: Keep and Sell/Donate. Thoroughly consider each item before you place it in a category. Think realistically about the longevity, practicality and fit of each item. If it’s not going to get any wear, is reminiscent of 2000 in a bad way, or it doesn’t fit right (and you don’t want to alter it), do you really need keep it?
Use the clothes selling article here on EIU to get the most money out of your old clothes. You’ll be able to put the money you get from selling your clothes to the new additions to your wardrobe.
Unless a piece of clothing you no longer want is completely trashed, covered in stains,or something like used underwear (…), I would definitely try to sell it. If no one will take it, donate it.
It’s good to do a thorough wardrobe cleanse at least once a year. Not only will you get rid of clothes you’ve outgrown (both physically and taste-wise) and earn you a bit of extra cash, but it will give you a good reminder of the contents of your wardrobe and allow you to think clearly about where you want your wardrobe to go in the following seasons.
For your viewing pleasure, here I am wearing some clothes of mine from 2006/2007 that for some reason are still sitting in my closet… THIS IS WHY WE MUST CLEANSE OUR CLOSETS, PEOPLE!
