I admit that I like to feel that I have “control” over most (if not all) aspects of my life, including my wardrobe (not that this is ever really the case). It feels good to notice a need, obsessively research options, make a choice, invest the money (be it a bigger buy or a thrift store buy), and see it come to life. However, I can’t deny that sometimes you just find something. Not even buy it. You find it on the street, in a free box, or it’s given to you, and it goes with everything even though you didn’t know you needed it. With so many options in the world and the rabbit hole that is the internet, when something comes to you without having to hunt it out, it gives it personality, meaning.
That’s how I feel about this jacket. My significant other handed it to me to wear while I was visiting a couple of weeks ago and it just instantly felt right. All of the lining is disintegrating, the cuffs and collar are worn, and it’s a few sizes too big, but I guess that’s what I like about it. Found items like these feel important in a wardrobe.
