What with Coachella less than a week away, plus Bonnaroo, Pitchfork, and Lollapolooza on the horizon — I’d say it’s time to begin channeling that inner festival goddess. I foresee a slew of boho frocks, racy cutoffs, and the staple Wellington boots. Got the visual?
Now for me, the icing is the hair. No festival outfit is complete without effortless, hippie-inspired tresses. So look no further — Here’s your go-to guide for festival-inspired mane inspiration!
The Waterfall Braid
Music festivals equal plaits. Plaits equal music festivals. The two go hand-in-hand. Simply braid along the crown of your head. As you braid, drop the bottom piece and pick up a separate section to continue the plait. Repeat. And trust me, practice makes perfect! Don’t give up on the first try. Finish this look off with salt spray for those “undone” waves.
The Double French
Ramp up your braids and double up. Pull outwards on each french braid for a loosened style. Make it look as though you’ve walked a couple laps around the festival grounds! Pet peeve: Unless you have a cute scrunchy, hide that elastic band with a strand of hair. A nasty hair-tie could potentially throw off your whole hipster-chic vibe and we can’t have that!
The Braided Headband
For this hippie-band, braid a small section of hair about 1.5 inches above your ear. Pull the strand across your forehead and pin above the opposite ear. Another hiptastic “do” would be to braid small sections on both sides and pull across the top of your crown. Simply pin the ends to create another variation of the braided headband!
