The unfortunate thing about working as an advocate, most of my time is spend in button downs and slacks for my professional life. Usually the only way to express my style is with my makeup. I’m primarily a red lipstick kind of girl. So, my out of work style is super exciting when I’m out of office.
But I think that can be said for many of us who work in a conservative and professional environment. Advocates have to dress well to get what we want, but in the end, were just a bunch of rebels getting paid to fight for what we believe in. So, my true inner rebel comes out in my street wear when I’m out of the classroom and out of the office. Although clothes do not define us, its definitely a better thing to be in clothes that i feel “right” in.
I hope by the time I have my J.D., that I can have my tattoos show and wear leather in the courts.
