If spring 2011 was all about neon shades and flashy tones, for me 2012 means something a lot more different. After seeing Louis Vuitton’s SS12 collection or Jill Sander’s, I can only think about one thing: pastels. Mint, light ice cream pink, delicate butter yellow and romantic lavender. This is what about spring 2012 inspires me. It’s time to get primed and look like walking candy! Here are the top 5 most stylish colors to wear this spring, plus styling tips from yours truly.
1. Mint
It’s already the color to wear, impossible to open a magazine or enter a shop without noticing all those light minty shades. Remember when Gaga told us in her Marry the night video “Mint will be huge this spring”? It really is. Not only do minty colors look amazing with any type of skin, but because it is quite an uncommon shade, it brings a touch of originality to any look. Wear it by subtle touches, a mint clutch paired with a nice light dress or a delicate mint blouse with a pastel skirt and nude tights. If you are more extravagant, then try out the the unicolor look— mint from head to toe. You’ll make heads turn, that’s for sure.

2. Candy Pink
Louis Vuitton promotes pink color quite well in their ice cream inspired SS12 campaign. Yet, wearing pink has always been a big challenge for me. Because I am blonde, I found it too girly and unsophisticated to wear these types of shades and was afraid of looking too much like a doll. But I think blondes do not need to avoid pink. The thing is to learn how to wear it. Play with it. I love wearing light pink with a very minimalistic look. Wear your hair back in a pony tail, very light jewelry and nice structured cuts to break the too-girly look. Take it as a challenge, and try to make a very classy and elegant look with a touch of pink. It looks great.
3. Peach
Perfect for spring and summer, peach and light orange shades flatter any skin tone. There’s no rule for this type of color as it is really easy to wear not only during the day but at night. A peach dress with some golden accessories and ballerinas for the daytime, or with high heels and a bright make-up for nighttime.

4. Lavender
Lavender isn’t the easiest color to wear. Usually this type of color looks better on light skin tones. However lavender details fit everybody, don’t they? I suggest wearing lavender shoes or bags this spring. They will add a very fresh and romantic touch to any outfit. Or if you want to try out the challenge, go for the lavender skirt or even skinny pants paired to a loose blouse.

5. Butter Yellow
Yellow is great paired with print pieces. I especially love wearing butter tones with monochromatic pieces and very feminine structures. Prada actually has got amazing light yellow bags this season that would look amazing with bright make-up and a nice skirt. This kind of color is easy to wear, and fits a lot of people, so go for it!
