The 84th Academy Awards — Not only a night for the luminous Oscar, motion picture greatness, but also an evening of iconic style. I’ll admit, I was too preoccupied in providing commentary on the star’s style choices to even notice who took home the coveted golden statue. Whoops! Let’s have a beauty recap, shall we?
Angeline’s Right Leg. This lanky limb definitely stole the limelight and has garnered more attention than Oscar himself! Fans took to Twitter almost immediately in establishing the @AngiesRightLeg account and posting less-than-flattering leggy photos. Let’s all take a moment to learn from this situation — Sometimes less is more.
Natalie’s Bangs. In the beauty department, Ms. Portman can do no wrong. From a shaved head to sleek retro waves, she epitomizes simplistic elegance regardless of the occasion. To achieve this look, blow-dry bangs up and over using a mid-sized round brush.
Sandra’s Pony. Proof that a high ponytail is as elegant as any sophisticated undo. My recommendation would be to do as Sandra does and pair this style with a draped back dress. And remember, there’s a difference between an athletic event and a gala affair — So be sure to hide your elastic band by wrapping it with a strand of hair!
Michelle’s Pink Pout. This style combo is a prime example that matching isn’t always necessary. I adored Michelle’s burnt orange gown with the contrasting pink lip and clutch. Note the additional pop of color on the apples of her cheeks to pull the entire look together.
Emma’s Wispy Liner. Pink for the win! Emma was pink from her shadow to her gown with a matchy-matchy look that even I can get behind! But even better than her rosy ensemble was that gorgeous wispy eyeliner. If you’re a liquid liner virgin, be sure to give yourself ample practice time with a handy bottle of makeup remover!
Honorable Mentions: Stacy Keibler’s one-shouldered waves, Rooney Mara’s mini-bangs, and JLo’s sock-bun.
