Continuing her play with neons from last season, Nanette Lepore opened her Fall/Winter 2012 show with a stunning lime halter dress under a trench in a bead-embellished modern tapestry print. The designer also continued to prove her knack for being on top of beauty trends (remember Spring’s purple lips?) by styling the models with one of this season’s…well, biggest, hair trends: poofy, voluminous, and teased as all get-out.
Nanette Lepore’s inspiration for her Fall/Winter 2012 line seemed to come from a foreign land, with the line progressing from neon into shimmery, beaded looks that brought to mind a middle-eastern market. She was quoted as saying a deck of tarot cards sparked ideas for the collection. (Source)
The accessories won votes for most covetable: metallic shoes and bags in fuschia, blue, and pale green had everyone talking.
Other major Fall/Winter 2012 trends that were featured? Peplums, velvet, drop waists, and houndstooth.
The show closed with the designer and her daughter, both clad in Nanette Lepore, walking the runway and waving happily. Too cute.
Spotted at the show were Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Amy Astley, male model Tyson Beckford, Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller, Papermag’s Mr. Mickey, and YouTube star Carly Cristman.
