Youthful pieces, peplum skirts, and floral-embroidered lace reigned during the Jill Stuart Fall/Winter 2012 runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. For Fall, the ultra-feminine designer Jill Stuart, who famously made her debut when her clothes were featured in everyone’s favorite 1995 film Clueless, showcased her flirty school girl charm with fur collars, pretty floral patterns, lace, berry hues and pea coats.
The collection was full of pretty floral embroideries and floral prints – some favorites included the gold floral embroideries on a black canvas dress (worn by model Lindsey Wixson). Print blocking continues on for Fall 2012 as many of the looks showed pretty floral pants and tops against black or one of the girlish favorites, the floral print mini dress with floral printed lace on top.
The silhouettes were long and lean for pants and flirty and above the knee for dresses and skirts. The popular spring peplum trend continues as a beautiful all cream look featuring a peplum skirt top walked down the runway (which was also worn in black by the designer herself that day) as well as oversized shoulders and pea coats.
Lots of cream and blacks walked down the runway, with hints of colors in purple prints, gold embroidery, and silver sequins. The berry colored looks stood out amongst the mostly black and cream collection – like the merlot colored leather skirt or trousers, deep red sweater top and pea coat paired with a detachable fur color.
To continue the collection’s feminine and lightweight theme, the designer was sure to include lace in many of her mini dresses with a flirty twist— each dress was sure to show some skin beneath sheer lace, some of which were covered in floral shaped patterns.
The show wasn’t so star studded (not that it matters), but models Lindsey Wixson and Daphne Groeneveld walked the show and in the front row included Olivia Palermo, Twilight’s Nikki Reed, and Kelly Bensimon.
