With the runway lit up in different neon colors (like bubbles dancing on the floor) as guests were finding their seats, there was a feeling that Custo Barcelona’s Fall/Winter 2012 collection was going to be a fun show. When the lights dimmed and techno/dance music started thumping, models walked out in pieces that emulated a rock and roll-meets-bohemia vibe. Designer Custo Dalmau mixed colors, patterns, graphics, and fabrications together to come up with an interesting collection. Balmain’s younger brother/sister or cousin, if you will.
There was no shortage of minis. They came fringed, patterned, pieced, and embellished. Men’s jackets and pants had all-over print, with one in giant herringbone. There also was a plethora of leather and fur. One show stopper came in the form of a green hooded dress full of fringe going in every direction. The combination of graphics, materials, and design details made for a visual party.
The last few looks consisted of fuzzy lavender and plum Lurex numbers. A sexy sleeveless, backless, deep v-neck dress had a mini fringe peplum and a woven skirt perfect for nights out. Out of the sixty-two piece collection, this would be the most easily wearable. Custo Barcelona’s Fall/Winter 2012 collection is certainly not for the faint of heart.
