Happy new year everyone! How is your Oshogatsu (New Year’s Day is Coming)?
I had a good Osyogatsu time with my family.
On Ohmisoka (New Year’s Eve), I cleaned the whole my house. In Japan, December is the month of total house cleaning, which also means the mental preparation for the coming new year. It’s said Ohsouji, big-cleaning days.
And I cooked a big bowl of tempura and Toshikoshi-soba (year-crossing noodles) and we ate them at dinner. Eating Toshikoshi-soba was already an established custom by the Edo period.
When I had just already finished eating Toshikoshi-soba, the new year was starting with Ohayashi rhythm from the nearest shrine. Then, I went to the shrine to pray with my doggy and my boyfriend.
On Gantan (the first day of new year) morning, we had zouni (rice-cake soup).
I love Japanese new year’s style so much like this!
Yesterday I went home to see my parents and all my family got together!
I enjoyed family conversation so much.
I also met my grandma after a long interval. She wore so nice sweater and showed me her used-clothes from her wardrobe. I selected nice ones and want her to give me them!
I got so nice sweaters, lace blouses, wool jacket and so on!
The sweater in this look is one of them.
