I read once that the truest measure of a person’s dedication to fashion is what they wear when they expect to spend a day at home alone. And, truth-be-told, I remember looking down from my magazine at my pilly sweater and threadbare sweatpants combo and cursing myself. Then I threw the magazine on the ground and started eating the crumbs still loitering around on my sweater front. True story.
But as my personal style deepened and I started thinking more about fashion and clothing, my “loungewear” started becoming more presentable as well. That’s not to say that I’ve rid my wardrobes of all my free Hanes t-shirts (I’ve kept the sentimental ones, of course), but I’ve tossed everything that doesn’t make me happy when I’m wearing it.
And of course, if you love your sweatpants, this isn’t a PSA to get rid of them. They’re YOUR sweatpants, you know? And if you love them, wear them proudly. But if you look down at your Old Navy pajama pants and cringe, here are some hints at matching your Sunday-afternoon clothing with your Saturday-evening clothing.
Comfort counts: The reason I was so loathe to ditch the grubby sweats was because they were so comfortable. But, thick leggings, warm wraps and camisoles are just as comfortable (if not more).
Risk Risque: Onesies? Underwear as outerwear? I’d totally rock them if I lived by myself.
Extras Excessories (har har): I CANNOT STRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCKS. They are imperative, especially if you live somewhere coldish. Also, pashminas and indoor beanies keep the heat in.

this post inspired me to do an overhaul of my lounge wear. seriously, i have always wanted to do so, but this was just the push i needed. but now i'm too shy to post my indoor wear on my chicblog! haha!
