I’m not so sure about this outfit…but I think it’s just because I haven’t worn anything this figure-hugging in a while. I used to be all about the bodycon dresses and skirts, which you might remember if you’ve folowed me for a while, but this year especially I’ve been veering towards much looser, flowing or skater-style shapes. Bodycon has that annoying knack of making me feel a bit self-conscious, and more aware of the things I might not like my body. I’m not saying that to provoke a reaction btw, I’m sure most fashion bloggers can relate – constantly taking photos of yourself can really put a strain on how you see yourself sometimes!
Anyway, once I got over that feeling, I actually started loving this dress. I love love love the studded detailing on the front, and the layered flap of the neckline detracts from the bodycon-ness of it all which is always nice. The best thing about this is the different looks you could get out of it. The tight, short style of it, with the detailing and cut-out shoulders could look really stunning on a night out with a pair of heels, but thanks to the studs it looks pretty great “grunged-down” a bit too. The nude colour gives it a lovely girly-meets-grungy effect. I went for the latter, as I’m not really a legs-and-stillettos kinda girl…plus I live in Manchester and it is COLD, people! I don’t know how proper Manchester girls do it – I still see people out in bare legs at night at the moment and I can’t believe they don’t get hypothermia!
I don’t know what everywhere else in the country is like at the moment, but there seems to be some sort of monsoon/hurricane going on here for the last couple of days – it has been tipping it down with rain, wind and even hail! I’m snuggled indoors, about to have Sunday dinner and spiced cider with my gorgeous housemates :) If you fancy a bit of cosy online shopping this evening then be sure to check out the rest of The Pokey Hat online store – they’ve got some killer stuff at the moment!
