the beatnik poet

“Cool, man, cool.” Say hello to the 50s beatnik poet, (basically the hipster of that particular decade). I may not have all the stereotypical accouterments like a trusty pair of bongos, a massive mug of black coffee, and a cigarette but I think I still pulled off the look rather well. I figured that since I am a student of poetry, it would be quite nice and fitting to dress up as my countercultural style and literature predecessors. The items I’m wearing are all pulled from my closet, though admittedly, I did buy the sweater and beret just yesterday. Since my “costume” are all recycled pieces from my wardrobe, I was actually able to get away with wearing it to school. Sadly, no one but my Intermediate Poetry Writing professor was able to identify my costume correctly. Edit: Big ups to my boo for being patient enough to take these lovely photographs!
