Hey there! I’m entering Chictopia’s Week of Giving “contest,” and you should too! It doesn’t matter if you think yours will be the winning entry, because every post counts for a good cause. Chictopia is going to donate $1 per qualifying entry to the winning charity! So you really don’t have an excuse for not entering. Find out more here.
The charity I’ve chosen is Locks of Love. Locks of Love takes donations of healthy hair (as well as monetary donations) to make hairpieces for children who have lost their hair from illness or disease. I think it’s a very special charity, because it helps young people feel more confident about their looks—which some may say is a superficial thing, like fashion, but I disagree.
What’s on the inside is of course what matters most, but I think it’s very important, especially for young people, to have high self-esteem and part of that does come from being satisfied with your outward appearance.
It was sort of just a coincidence that after cutting my hair, I heard about Chictopia’s contest and decided to make the connection with this blog post. I didn’t actually cut off enough hair this time to donate, but I have donated in the past.
