Some of you may have noticed this November that there are quite a few men out there who are strangely sporting some new… facial fashion. If you take the time to ask, most of them are doing this for a cause called Movember, which is a charity raising awareness about mens’ health issues, primarily prostate cancer.
Men are asked to shave their faces clean on November 1st & work on growing a proper moustache for the entire month. This ‘in your face’ statement raises awareness because… who the heck has a moustache for real these days? haha. So Samantha and I decided to dress up in some menswear inspired pieces & sport some mo’s for this cause.
Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian men, afflicting 1 in 7 men. Those with a family history of the disease have a greater chance of being affected. This cause is particularly dear to me (Sylvia) because it’s one that has a great chance of affecting someone dear to me in the future. My boyfriend is one of those men with a family history and I’m so proud of him for taking the initiative for 3 years in a row to help raise awareness and encourage men to go for annual testing.
So take a minute this month to ask a dude about his moustache & talk about mens health! Or donate whatever you can to a team of your favourite dudes on movember.com
& remember to add this look as a favourite to vote for it in the Week of Giving Campaign!
