I dressed as Ursula the Sea Witch from Disney’s The Little Mermaid!
I absolutely LOVE any excuse to take on an identity different from my everyday form. I also LOVE to create, especially through the art of sewing (I got my first machine 5 months ago and I can’t get enough)! Halloween then, of course, provides ample opportunity for the perfect marriage of two of my biggest loves. I always try to strive for something challenging and unique in my costume choices so the DIY route is alllways a given. Luckily, much of my costume was already in my closet. I already had black leggings, black pumps, and the perfect seashell necklace. I also altered a hand-me-down dress that I had, transforming it from a long, straight-top spaghetti strap dress to a short, strapless sweetheart cut. The tentacle skirt was crafted from a giant thrifted tablecloth and thrifted scrap fabric using my sewing machine, then stuffed with polyester fiber-fill. Voila! I did put a lot of energy into my costume this year but I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. What do you think?
“Poor, unfortunate sooooouuuuls!” :)
