Wearitbothways 's Thoughts:

Plaid has undergone countless mutations over the years, overtaking prints on pants, spreading over scarves, even creeping onto some of our favorite pairs of shoes! It has also permeated through every season. Wearing plaid in Summer creates a happier sort of vibe, given that it is generally designed in punchier colors and almost certainly paired back to white shorts or khakis (at least that’s our recommendation!). Wearing plaid in Holiday however, can carry any range of connotations! A plaid scarf shows that you’re ready to casually battle the cold, while a checked shirt matched with a plaid scarf under a herringbone jacket carries a whole different (and deliciously preppy) sort of vibe.

We put together our outfits in this post with upcoming Holiday parties in mind! Pairing black and plaid is the perfect marriage to dress up any party look, because it’s dressy but still approachable. Throw in some texture like HER rosette skirt, and you’ll be glad peak plaid seasonality is black !

You’re set for any party — now just add the finishing accessory: a Hottie Tottie the size of your face.

HIS – Shirt: J Crew, Suit: Zara, Shoes: Purcell

HERS – Skirt: Banana Republic, Shirt: Ralph Lauren, Shoes: Sam Edelman, Purse: J Crew
