Inspired by the popular video game “Mortal Kombat”, these are two Halloween costumes I handmade for my boyfriend Bryan (Sub Zero) and me (Kitana). Check out additional pictures for more details on the costumes!
SUB ZERO
Excluding the black long sleeve and black pants, this costume is made up of 3 pieces: 2 separate pieces for the vest, tied together with the black fabric belt. I accessorized the costume with handmade and drawn “metal” patches, using foam paper wrapped in aluminum foil. For Sub Zero’s protective gear, I used soccer shin guards in both Adult (for legs and Pee Wee (for arms) sizes and spray painted them blue. Lastly, for Sub Zero’s ice ball weapon, I spray painted a styrofoam ball and attached it to his glove using velcro.
KITANA
For Kitana’s costume, I wore a black Gloria V. leotard from American Apparel as a black inner layer. The costume itself is made up of 2 pieces: the top, which is a simple cut-out design I made from an existing blue t-shirt, and handmade skirt with 2 high-cut slits. Kitana’s fan weapon is also handmade, using gold specialty scrapbook paper tied together with black pleather trim. I used blue sheer fabric for Kitana’s face mask. Lastly, I accessorized the whole look with black lace hosiery and black over-the-knee boots!
Hope you enjoyed these costumes!
