I crocheted myself a wearable coral reef after seeing so many interesting photos of the crocheted coral reef exhibits at the Smithsonian and elsewhere. It took about six months, just working on it casually most of the time. The yarns were almost entirely thrifted, various fibers; there are starfish, sand dollars, brain coral and other tentacles and tubules and such. It’s actually very comfortable, which is my first rule of costumes. Here’s the back:
