A little anecdote. Marcus (aka geekbonchic) and I met because we both were involved in BARE magazine at Cal. At first, at least for me, it wasn’t a particularly wonderful thing. “WHO IS THIS GUY,” I kept thinking. “AND WHY IS HE WEARING MY CLOTHES?”
Seriously. I would go to a meeting in a gray cardigan, black skinny jeans and brown brogues, and THIS GUY would be wearing the exact same thing. I’d attend a photoshoot in a black jacket, cropped denim and a red scarf and BRO WOULD BE IN THEM TOO. I had myself a fashion doppelganger. And guys, there are only two courses of action in dealing with a fashion doppelganger.
Depending on whether their copping your style is a form a sartorial stalking or just plain accidental, you can either:
1) Annihilate them
of
2) Make them your best friend. Or your boyfriend. But since Marcus and I share the same taste in boys as well as the same taste in style, the second wasn’t really an option.
The photo at left was taken today at a BARE production meeting. I walked in the door and was greeted with a “GIRL. WHY ARE WE WEARING THE SAME THING AGAIN?”
Because, Marcus. That’s just what we do. DEAL.
