Greetings fellow coeds! It’s finals weeks for most of us and I hope everyone is studying hard and staying chic. Okay maybe staying chic right now is the last thing on your mind ex: I’ve been holed up in my room wearing the same thing for the past couple of days… heh heh.
I actually should be studying right now seeing as I have two finals tomorrow but have spent the last 2 hours reading blogs, perusing online shops while half-watching Pulp Fiction and now I’m blogging here. Gah, I know.
Well, I thought I’d share a few simple and easy tips to help you study and stay on track!
-Make a studying schedule! Plan ahead and block out certain slots of time to study AND time to relax. Making sure you have little breaks from studying really helps to ease the stress from finals. Usually I’ll study for 2 hours then take a 20 minute break to either nap, look at street style pics or sew. Short breaks really refresh and re-energize so you can go on studying for another couple of hours!
-Eat healthy! During finals week, I barely remember to eat and when I do it’s usually something fast and very bad for me. In an attempt to not get sick this time around, I made a conscious effort to eat better. Opting for yogurt, dried fruit, salads, and grilled chicken instead of candy bars, chicken nuggets and chips. Also, instead of energy drinks that make you crash and burn try drinking lots of green tea instead. Not only does it contain caffeine, but it’s loaded with antioxidants and boosts your metabolism!
-Get a good night’s sleep! I know this is hard, but it is crucial in helping you do well on your exams. You’ll focus and retain information better and if a full 8 hours is just out of the question, take power naps throughout the day. A 20 to 30 minute nap really, really helps. Make sure you set your alarm though so you don’t oversleep because napping for more than 20-30 minutes at a time is more detrimental than not sleeping at all because once you’re in the REM stage of sleep (the deepest sleep stage) it’s hell to come out of it and you’ll feel even more tired.
Hope these tips help a little and I should take my own advice and get back to studying! My “little break” has turned into a few hours of aimless internet surfing :X
Good luck!!
xoxo,
Linda
