long hiatus from chictopia because i was busy moving back to our old house because the new one is getting renovated.
I HATE PACKING.
my closet is divided between two cities and it sucks to need a pair of shoes and realize its in the other house.
also, i came from immersion, which is this thing that my school does where students have to live with an oppressed sector/group for a weekend (rural poor, urban poor, orphanages, abused women/children).
i had to march 32 KILOMETERS (dlsu manila to ateneo) with a group of farmers from calatagan fighting for their land.
it was so depressing seeing 60-80 year old grandpas and grandmas.
i had no right to complain because they marched 400 KILOMETERS in slippers.
these seniors feet were cracked at the heel, callused, and bleeding. it was so much effort to stop from crying.
all because the tycoon of Asturias Chemical Corp. wants to grab their land to mine limestone, put up a cement factory, and dump waste in the beautiful ocean. SHAME.
these farmers lead such simple lives but they are so content.
all they want to do is till their land (they paid for it and have titles too!)
the stupid company wants to banish them to the mountain tops.
what the fuck are you going to do with cement if you have no food to eat??
these farmers harvest 25 TYPES OF CROPS AND RICE!!
think long term, people.
whatever happened to conscience?
your houses are sprawling and extravagant. why will you deny them what is rightfully theirs??
filipinos, spread the word. this cause doesnt get much publicity because the company threatened to pull out all their ads from tv stations and newspapers if they dared publicize it. they own the leading brand of beer in the country..
its a little hard to think of fashion when people are losing their homes.. :(
