I’ve been living in this lovely skirt for the past few days, given the heat and my general lack of enthusiasm for putting a great outfit together. My week has been a bit of a sad one.
I love items that have a story, or bring back good memories. I bought this for some ridiculously miniscule amount at a beach market in Ghana, West Africa, almost a year ago. All the rastafurians were sitting in the shade of their little market stalls, smoking ganja, reading Tintin comics and selling off items from around the world (lots of second hand pieces – even some H&M! We don’t have that here in Aussie, yet I could have picked some pieces up in the middle of Africa – crazy world!) The guy who sold it to me said it came from Libya…but who really knows where it originated!
I have loved the fabric since I got it, but it was originally quite long and painfully sheer, so I never wore it out. Over the weekend I cut it in half length ways and stitched the bottom half to the top half – taking away some length and giving me back some modesty :)
