I love Acne.
To clarify for the occasional non-fashion person who may be tuning in, I’m talking about the brand and not the obnoxious volcano growing on my chin right now. And I thought skin issues were for teenagers with braces.
If I had to choose one collection to emulate for Fall/Winter 2011, it’d be theirs. It encapsulates the perfect La Garconne look without shying away from color and is masculine without becoming sterile and cliche. Click here to see collection. The boxy leather vests with legs peeking out of the slits of slinky maxi skirts, buttoned-up boyfriend blazers paired cropped trousers and jumpsuits layered with metallic leather in the most delicious color combos. Cobalt blue with dusty pink, marigold yellow with sienna and burnt umber, denim blue with navy. I love how edgy the silhouette is but evokes warmth and passion through the colors.
And how can you resist the Bodoni typeface?
Earth to Sam.
If imitation is flattery, this is my spin off of Acne FW11. Layering burgundy on burgundy with a subtle shift in depth with navy and black. This will probably be my uniform in November- I was literally drenched in sweat when we took these. Can you imagine me attempting the vest over blazer combo in Look 11? Hong Kong is the sartorial killjoy of my layering fantasies.
