There are some people who you know you’re friends with because you are complete opposites. They provide a contrast to your opinions and make you see the other side to every story. And then there are just some people who you instantly click with not because of the very binary and contrasting personalities but rather because of the strange comfort and similarity you share with each other on almost everything. Me and my friend Nina would be described best as the latter
We always had the same interests and the same reactions to things. She just gets me and I get her likewise. We’ve had many crazy/beautiful experiences and I have to say she is among my most trusted, dearest and closest friends ever. Which is why it was indeed a no brainer that I’d pick her and she’d pick me as the person she’d go into something major with.
We also always had the same taste in fashion and most of the time, we end up buying the exact same clothes. We once joked that we had to text each other what we bought since it would be a waste of money to get two identical things if we could just rotate instead. And for a while it worked for us since she became my extended closet and I became hers. But who could’ve foreseen the events of the sunny Saturday morning?
She went to my house to fetch me for a shoot we were going to have for out new clothing line, GLITTERATI that we launched today online. And she was laughing so hard as I opened the door of her car. I wondered what the heck was so funny until I saw her dress. It was the exact same as mine! And the best thing about it was 1) THIS WAS TOTALLY RANDOM and UNPLANNED, 2) WE DIDN’T EVEN KNOW WE HAD THESE DRESSES and 3) WHAT WERE THE CHANCES OF US WEARING THE EXACT SAME DRESS FOR THE EXACT SAME OCCASION?
I took it as a good sign since it meant our design and fashion aesthetic were in sync since we loved the same stuff and that minimized conflict especially in the design process. It was just so funny since our minds were just so synced already… I love it!!!
I wore a very simple outfit, since like her, the dress was roomy, airy and comfy to move around in and ideal for running back and forth styling and dressing our model for a 6 Layout fashion shoot. Plus the fact that it was reminiscent of Alexander Wang were top reasons for getting the dress,
Anyway, feast your eyes on how much we look like twins. She looks more like my twin sister than my actual blood relatives which is why we are often mistaken as “SISTERS” by people. It’s so funny! The shots that follow appear like I have a mirror image or something. People in the shoot refused to believe we didn’t plan it but if you saw the shock in our faces upon seeing each other, you’d believe it for sure.
