From clothing made out of sour milk to hot underwear models, we’re covering some of the best ugly gossip out there! Here’s this week’s Ugly Gossip featuring the good, the bad, and the (really) UGLY!
10. Finally, David Beckham Collaborates with H&M for Underwear
After many times of posing in underwear ads, David Beckham will be releasing his own line of underwear with H&M. Earlier this week, we tweeted the collaboration, and we couldn’t be happier. No news yet if David will be designing the line, but we’re sure hoping he’ll be modeling in them! You can start buying his underwear February 2012, which is the perfect thing for your date to wear on Valentine’s Day.
09. Is Lady Gaga Going Bald?
Though we’ve seen her perform bald and that she’s mentioned that she was losing hair due to constantly dying her hair. She’s now finally taking steps to correct her baldness. Reportedly, the singer is using, Rogaine, an over the counter anti-balding treatment to save her tresses. Whether the product will work or not, we’re used to seeing her with wigs.
08. Alexander McQueen Left $82,000 for His Dogs
Not will we only remember the late Alexander McQueen for his admirable designs, but we’ll also remember him as a humble, sweet man. After approximately a year of his death, his will was publicized earlier this week. Turns out he left $82,000 for the care his dogs, $164,000 for his two housekeepers, while leaving most of his money to charities like The Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and The London Buddhist Center. His acts of kindness will continue to live on.
07. Remembering Amy Winehouse
It came a shock to the world that Amy Winehouse was found dead in her apartment this past Saturday. Though there were speculations of a possible alcohol withdrawal, we still aren’t sure what exactly caused her death. Amy was famously known for her hearty singing and drug addictions, but her fashion skills were underestimated. She’s inspired many in the fashion industry, such as being Karl Lagerfeld’s muse and designing for Fred Perry, Her contributions to the fashion industry has definitely been overlooked. She will be greatly missed.
06. Will You Buy Louboutin Shoes Made Out of Trash?
While most of us would go gaga over a pair of red soled Louboutins, we’re not so sure how we feel about his latest design which is made out of trash. Technically, these pumps would be considered ‘recycled’ since they’re plastered with stamps, some thread, and written notepaper. Just because it’s made out of ‘recycled material,’ it’s still going to cost you $1,095. Expensive, yes. But, at least you can walk in these, unlike those ballet Louboutins!
05. Now Selling: Clothes Made Out of Sour Milk
Don’t like ‘trash-y’ shoes? Don’t worry, maybe clothes made out of sour milk will tickle your fancy. A 28 year old biologist designed a collection full of clothes made out of sour milk. In addition to being eco-friendly, the fabric of these clothes are claimed to feel silky smooth. She basically solidified the sour milk so that it’s hard enough to turn into thread. It’s an amazing concept, but she’s going to be selling her designs starting at $290. Will you Chictopians buy?
04. Sperm Bank Describes Donors How They Are Dressed
While you’re typically assessing the health status of the donor’s sperm, why not also find out how they are dressed? A sperm bank in London will clearly spell it out for you by including descriptions like “He has a unique ‘rock star image’ in terms of appearance but not at all in lifestyle or confidence.” We know how style can be important when it comes to dating, but we didn’t know that it’d be that important when choosing sperm. Guess it gives a good visualization of the sperm daddy.
03. Julia Roberts’ L’Oreal Ad Banned Due to Photoshopping
We all know that makeup ads are no strangers to Photoshopping. But, the U.K. Advertising Standards Authority actually banned Julia Roberts’ L’Oreal ad due to too much photoshopping. While the photographer of the ad admitted that there was some post-work done on Ms. Roberts, she still claimed the product was effective at reversing the aging look. I mean, all they did was just to “lighten the skin, clean up makeup, reduce dark shadows and shading around the eyes, smooth the lips, and darken the eyebrows.” That’s not called touching up, that’s called Photoshop surgery.
02. American Gang Only Wears Ralph Lauren to Represent
If you thought this is a joke, we kid you not. While gangs are known to wear a certain colour or style, this American gang (the “Lo-Lifes”) only wears Ralph Lauren. In fact, this gang is so into the brand Ralph Lauren, that their name “Lo-Lifes” is derived from the last two letters of Ralph Lauren’s casual-wear line, Polo. And it gets weirder, this group of friends actually prefer vintage Ralph Lauren over the new stuff due to its flamboyant graphics and colours. Thanks to a photographer who documented the Lo-Lifes’ sense of style, we get a glimpse of how fashion even extends its influence to gangs.
01. KIA’s Ad Showed the First Stop-Motion Nail Art
How did that collaboration happen? Never mind how they got together but rather how the heck did they do that?! KIA’s ad showed the world’s first stop-motion nail-art featuring KIA cars on a white nail backdrop. They basically made an animated flip book featuring 900 nails with hand-painted car prints on them while using up 1,900 nail polish bottles, too. We’ll have KIA to thank if we see an influx of car printed polished nails next week. Watch the video here.
