From celeb clothing line to the REAL meaning behind Victoria’s newborn baby name, we’re covering some of the best ugly gossip out there! Here’s this week’s Ugly Gossip featuring the good, the bad, and the (really) UGLY!
10. To Kill A Mockingbird Book Sales Rose by 123% After Victoria Beckham Named Her Baby
It seems that British newspaper, Daily Mail, can’t make up its mind on which book Victoria Beckham named her baby after. It’s confirmed now that the Becks named their baby girl, Harper Seven, after the author, Harper Lee, not after the character, Harper, from Wizards of Waverly Place. Harper Lee’s bestselling book, To Kill a Mockingbird, became so popular after the baby naming that the book sales rose up to an astonishing 123% this week on Amazon.co.uk. Talk about free advertising for Ms. Lee there.

09. Lil Wayne Might Include Safety Pins as Part of His Clothing Line
You may have heard that Kanye West is coming up with a clothing line, but we bet you didn’t know that Lil Wayne will also have his. Joining the success of Phat Farms and Sean John, Lil Wayne will be launching his own clothing line, titled Rebirth. Inspired by his own wardrobe, Lil Weezy plans to sell sneakers, clothing, and possibly safety pins. Not sure how successful the label will be, but in the meantime here’s an awesome mesh: Harry Potter jewelry. These will certainly bring out the wizard in you!
08. Lady Gaga’s Stylist, Nicola Formichetti, Thinks Old People Should Go Away
Perhaps Nicola Formichetti should hire a PR or fire his current one. First he didn’t like fat people, and now he wants old people to go away. July’s Elle UK interview revealed that Nicola isn’t too fond of old people and was caught saying, “I think old people should just be old and go away. It’s not about being in the industry for ten years anymore: it’s about good ideas.” What he probably meant was that the fashion industry should focus on those who have good ideas instead of seniority groups. We suggest Mr. Formichetti take a communications 101 course to ahem get clarify his points.
07. Model Claims Topshop Anorexic Ad Was Totally Photoshopped
So, last week, there was this whole hoopla of Topshop model, Codie Young, being too anorexic in the latest Topshop ad, and to her defense she claimed that she was a healthy UK size 8. She’s now added that her gaunt look was due to photoshopping and bad angling. Photoshopped or not, Codie Young is certainly undeniably thin. So is she too thin or was she just photoshopped horribly?

06. Christian Louboutin Hired a Detective to Spy on Dior
Christian Louboutin actually hired a private investigator to spy on Dior and was told that his rival will be making heels with red soles. After a day of full-on media coverage, it was actually a misunderstanding and that the rumours were false. Looks like Louboutin was just being too paranoid after suing YSL for stealing his designs.
05. If You’re Asian American, You Will Spend More On Back-to-School Clothes Than Your Peers
A recent survey claims that Asian American young adults spend the most compared to other ethnic groups when it comes to back-to-school shopping. They survey included 1,300 high school and college students to report their clothing expenses. Even though Latinos spent the most per trip ($98.20), Asians still spent more per month ($140.97) while African Americans came in second and Caucasians finished last. Does this ring true to any of you Chictopians?
04. Which Fashion Brand is Currently the Most Successful?
Is it the monogrammed Louie V or prominent label, Gucci? Don’t need to guess anymore because you probably didn’t think it was Mulberry! Yes, it’s the same label that named their coveted bag, Alexa, after Brit model/tv personality, Alexa Chung. Mulberry’s stock rose 526% last year, making the label out perform other fashion retail stores! Too bad the $3,000 Alexa bag is out of stock, but don’t worry we’re sure you’ll find a few look alikes that won’t be too out of your budget range!
03. Roadkill Couture: Would You Dare to Wear a Possom as a Hat?
It’s exactly how it sounds, it’s roadkill turned into couture. There’s a new store in the UK that is selling these high-end roadkill as clothing attire. Instead of fabric, animal fur, bones, and feathers would be used as textile for the clothing. Don’t worry though, the company explained that the animals died from natural causes or by accident, never intentional. Still, we can’t help but vomit a little bit in our mouths. View the photos from the runway here.

02. Miss England Pageants DIY Own Gowns!
This must be better than any Project Runway show because the contestants of Miss England 2011 actually had to make their own dresses out of recycled materials (and we doubt that all these girls are designers). Loved Miss Essex for turning an umbrella into a corseted dress. Let’s hope that this is a required segment for all future Miss Englands.
