I was so excited to visit Historic Fishtown. I had recently discovered it when I was looking into our trip and couldn’t believe I didn’t know of this place before. It’s in northern Michigan, right along Lake Michigan. It was a commercial fishing district and has provided a livelihood for residents for over a century! Fisherman reached Lake Michigan by way of the Leland River. Small fishing shanties and ice/smoke houses lined the river, now gray and weather-beaten.
