From designer pens made out of nail polishes to model dating rumours, we’re covering some of the best ugly gossip out there! Here’s this week’s Ugly Gossip featuring the good, the bad, and the (really) UGLY!
10. Balmain Makes Hair Products
As if clothing isn’t enough for the French label, Balmain, they decided that they want to turn your hair from a hot mess to a total haute mess. Yep, Balmain just released seven hair products that will pump up the volume in your hair. Also, they’re deemed hypoallergenic (yes!) and safe on hair extensions (amen!). They’re a bit pricey (starting from $47) but if these products can yield results, we’re all on board. Finally, a shampoo that increases hair volume instead of our body size!
09. American Designers Dishes to Vogue On Their Style Icon Picks
Haute couture magazine, Vogue, recently asked a few prominent American designers whose styles they admire. Here are just a few of their favs: Derek Lam loves Willow Smith (who doesn’t?), Micheal Kors chose Michelle Obama as his muse, and Tory Burch idolizes Michelle William. Speaking of Style Icons, Chictopia recently awarded six Chictopians that very same status! Who’s your fav?

08. Power Couple Alert: Arizona Muse and Freja Beha
Is this true that two of our favourite models, Arizona and Freja, are dating? Though the rumour has been budding since April 2011, the rumour seems to be hitting close to home now that there’s more media coverage of the confirmed romance. Yay for Frezona!

07. Kate Moss Gets Married in John Galliano Designed Wedding Dress (and Other Controversial Wedding Tidbits)!
Though John Galliano may be facing jail time that doesn’t mean he’s stopped working. The past weekend, Kate Moss wore a gorgeous, sparkled wedding gown designed by the controversial designer, John Galliano. But, the controversy doesn’t stop there, critics are saying that Kate Moss married to a ‘nazi-saluting’ rocker and her hairstylist was racist. Why can’t we just look at the big picture and just be happy for the gal’s big day?

06. House Star, Hugh Laurie is Now a L’Oreal Model
You might be thinking, who?! If you don’t know this fella, Hugh Laurie, maybe this photo help ya out. Yep, he’s the kooky-yet-loveable-and-knowledgable doc from the hit American series House M.D. It sounds pretty off since L’Oreal is known for casting beauties like Beyonce, Eva Longoria, and Patrick Dempsey. But seems like L’Oreal is going towards realism with their ads by casting “real people with strong personalities [and] who are worth it,” too. Huh, sounds more American Apparel than L’Oreal.
05. Tom Ford is Dubbed ‘Racist’ and ‘Humourless’ in Latest Interview
Tom Ford has been ousted as a ‘racist’ in the latest interview from Time Out Hong Kong. When asked whether or not Westerners tend to like Asian beauties who have Caucasian-like features, he went on a tangent by responding that he wasn’t a racist. On top of that, Tom wasn’t up for telling jokes by responding, “No, I’m not a joke teller.” Ouch. But, is Tom Ford really a ‘racist?’ Judging from his answers, probably not. Humourless? This, maybe.
04. Beware of the New Disorder: Liarexia
A new term made up by Daily Mail, ‘Liarexias’ are people who lie about what they eat. So, how it works is this: you tend to order a lot of food in social gatherings, but when you’re by yourself, you basically just nub on a piece of celery (or something else at the same ridiculous amount). As a result, this gives an illusion to others that you’re ‘naturally this skinny.’ Rumour’s saying that Gwyneth Paltrow and Camerian Diaz are a few of the more famous liarexics to date. Hmm, does Anna Wintour fit the criteria?
03. Does Nicola Formichetti Really Like ‘Fat’ People?
When Nicola Formichetti was quoted saying that that he doesn’t work with fat people in W Magazine, he was immediately put in the hot seat. But when the Lady Gaga stylist decided to confront the statement on his Facebook fan page (i.e., by showing images of his plus-sized shoots), it seemed like he was indeed misquoted. However, upon discovering his personal Facebook, you’ll see rather insensitive images of obese people which makes you think whether or not he was really misquoted in the first place. Too bad you can’t tap into his personal Facebook anymore – it’s now private.

02. Karl Lagerfeld Makes Pens Out of Nail Polishes
Not only are his paper-scented perfumes in the making, but you’ll also be seeing some of Mr. Lagerfeld’s pens made out of nail polishes! Karl Lagerfeld actually uses Shu Uemura nail polishes to sketch his pen designs. But what’s even more rad is that he somehow incorporated the nail lacquer into the ink of the pens! Totally brings back childhood memories of using white-out pens on your nails, doesn’t it?
01. Girl Forced to Quit for Not Wearing Makeup
Melanie Stark claimed that she was forced to quit her sales assistant position at Harrods (a high-end department store in the U.K.) due to not wearing any makeup. When the company confronted Melanie to attend a makeup workshop, she refused and was even sent home a couple of times. Mind you that Melanie has been working there for five years before she was asked to wear ‘full makeup.’ Suppose she just sported a Clarins Mosique Bronzer instead? Would that consider as ‘full makeup’? Though it seems appalling that a company would strictly order their employees to wear makeup at the workforce, some critics believe that wearing a little makeup is considered respectful. What’s your take?
Should companies require their employees wear makeup – even just a little bit?
