Not that I am an American, so I really shouldn’t be caring so much about the 4th of July right?
But I kind of do, and that’s the embarrasing thing about me. Because even if I am from Sweden, living in Sweden the American culture is more or less like our culture: because nearly all movies we watch, all music we hear and tv-shows we follow are American.
How weird is that, huh?
I almost use my English more than my Swedish these days, and I will never (I mean ever) forget how I, along with all of my friends, felt after a long election-marathon night two years ago: when Obama was selected as the new president. That feeling of hope and “change will come” that connected a lot of us. All around the world.
That’s why, I think I do care about the 4th. Just a bit.
Happy, late, 4th to all of you!
