Another rendition of this summer’s color blocking trend: hammering it in with eye watering fuchsia and teal. I’m dressed like a cupcake on acid (as Priscilla and Tania were cooing) with the ruffle back and 50?s silhouette. I couldn’t resist rolling up the sleeves for a ‘just off work’ look and pairing it with some chunky jewelry to offset the rather luxe fabrics.
Speaking of cupcakes I just finished baking two dozen for a certain someone’s birthday this Friday. Why so early? I need to make the buttercream frosting tomorrow, shoot them on Thurs and have them picked up that evening for Friday’s party. I’m not sure how I simultaneously juggle a job, a blog, baking and a life- oh yeah, I don’t have one! Ha!
On to le diagram:
Clean vs. Maxed
Minimalist basics (okay minus the ruffle back) plays a balance off of the saturated hues of the skirt and shirt.
Fluid vs. Sharp
Soft translucent chiffon contrasts the stiffness of the skirt. It feels a little dangerous since it’s so voluminous- I’d wear shorts underneath.
I’m not sure how much more exuberant one can get if an outfit looks like a frosted cupcake.
It’s a rather 1950?s housewife silhouette but the color clashing makes it one loud acid trip.
I’m not speaking of the Chanel concept of a basic/classic wardrobe, rather the silhouette that is so 1950?s with the nipped waist, exaggerated bottom that evokes Dior’s New Look. The Mary Jane block heels help too!
Say hello! Love to hear from Chictopians :)
