My mum gave this scarf to me a long time ago. I used to play dress up in it and pretend I was a fairy! I suppose I still do, in a way….
This was yesterday’s outfit, when my mum and I went out and ran some errands. Among them were picking up a new 8gb memory card for my camera (because I’m photographing a wedding this Saturday! Expect a very excited post about that!) and purchasing a pack of 150 skeins of embroidery thread. I’ve become a tad bit obsessed with friendship bracelets ever since stacked wrist thingetties became trendy and I discovered this awesome tutorial on Honestly… WTF. I don’t consider myself a huge trend-follower (though I’m really liking this season’s, just because the majority are very much my style anyway – festival and bohemian themes, fun patterns, lots of jewelry…) but friendship bracelets I love, because they remind me of my childhood summers spent at Girl Scout camp, fruitlessly trying to master the craft of bracelet-making!
Childhood and the end of it has been in the forefront of my mind recently. What with my sixteenth birthday quickly approaching (July 8, mark your calendars! Just kidding, I’m not a fan of birthdays.), the Harry Potter movies coming to a close a mere week later (exactly a week, wow, I just realized that), and the shocking realization that my brother and cousin are growing up (yikes!), I’ve felt like I need to hold onto something solid and shout “STOP!” One of my best friends graduated high school this year – luckily she’s attending a local college in the fall, so I can still bug her :) – and in two short years, I’ll be doing the same. Minus the local college bit – I’d like to go to New York or somewhere amazing like that. I’m eager to graduate high school and leave that behind me, but until now I hadn’t grasped exactly how ridiculously fast everything happens! I still feel like I’m still a wee little freshman, just readying myself for the big bad world of high school. That was two whole years ago, and they flew by faster than anything I’ve ever experienced. And don’t even get me started on Harry Potter – I surprised myself yesterday by bursting into tears as I explained to my mum my goal of rereading the whole series before July 15.
This whole “growing up” thing…
It’s amazing and terrifying at the same time.
