We’ve all become acquainted with Dakota Fanning since she was a little girl, but what about her younger sister, Elle? Boasting a growing resume and perfect sartorial choices, this girl is one to watch. At thirteen years old, within this past year alone, Elle has starred in Sophia Coppola’s “Somewhere” and J.J. Abrams’ sci-fi flick “Super 8”. She’s showed up at a plethora of awards ceremonies as well as the Met Gala, all looking quite lovely. Didn’t think you’d be looking to a thirteen year old for fashion inspiration? Maybe it’s time to reconsider.
ON THE RED CARPET
Elle’s red carpet style is youthful and fun, though she’s not afraid to try something a little demure. Instead of wearing anything too risque or skin revealing, her choices really showcase her love of fashion, which she attributes to her mother’s own interest. With her model-esque stature, Elle can carry almost any look straight from the runway. Though often dressed in Valentino, she’s also a favorite of Kate and Laura Mulleavy, designers of the much-beloved brand Rodarte.
STREET STYLE
Elle’s own style is quirky and edgy, but still age appropriate. She loves Doc Martens as well as more ethereal styles. She’s a fan of trendy maxi-length skirts – something she can easily pull off with her 5’7" height – and mixing unexpected pieces, such as a varsity jacket with a hippie-inspired dress. Not one to fall for every trend out there, Elle’s personal style is exactly that – personal, and unique.
EDITORIALS
Elle isn’t just another teen star looking only to teen magazines for a cover shoot. One might guess that she’s simply an up-and-coming model rather than a young actress. She’s been featured in indie-cool magazines such as Lula and Jalouse (the former as a selection by the Mulleavy’s), along with more mainstream publications like Marie Claire and Teen Vogue.
In an era of teenage celebs trying to act (and dress) twice their age, Elle Fanning is a breath of fresh air. Surely, she’s on her way to an incredible career and many, many more fashion editorials to accompany. She’s not just another teen star – this young lady has talent and poise, and we can’t wait to see where she goes.
