I used a Butterick’s reprint of a vintage 50’s evening dress; the original pattern had a shift dress with a sheer detachable overlay poufy skirt. I did quite a bit of modification to the pattern and still ended up making the shoulders too wide and the waist too big (even under the watchful eyes of the best sewing instructor ever). This will probably be the first and also last time I attempt something complicated unless my sewing skills magically improve. Speaking of D.I.Y.‘s, I have about six different projects that I need to finish up.
Anyway, I’m currently blogging while waiting for a step to finish at research. My current weekday schedule is so predictable: class, research, gym, research, computer lab, bed. Every semester I think “this is my busiest semester ever” until the next semester rolls along. I’m dreading this coming fall since one of my friends (heading to UC Berkeley for PhD in Chemical Engineering…overachiever!) informed me that she didn’t get home from the computer lab until 4 am every Thursday when she took plant design. If my genius friend went home at four, you can bet I’ll be there all night! Also, why is everyone in my life moving to California? Stanford, Cal Tech, Berkeley… even my best guy friend moved to San Francisco. Wait for me!
