10. Lady Gaga Looks Unrecognizable in Magazine
With all that makeup on, we forget what Lady Gaga really looks like. On the recent issue of Spex Magazine, we see an innocent fresh faced Lady Gaga. While we’re used to seeing the avant-garde in Lady Gaga, it’s nice to see the human side of her, too.
09. Beware of Fake Modeling Agencies
Over the past week, three models have been scammed by fake modeling scouts who claimed to work for the famous modeling agency, Premier. Founder of Premier spoke out on this issue and gives tips to aspiring and current models. Most helpful tip of all: call the agency to see if the scout works there. Our tip? Be wary of ‘scouts’ contacting you from Craig’s List.
08. Gucci Gets Sued for Being Racist
A tax layer is suing her former employer, Gucci_, for allegedly charging too much tax on Rihanna due to her race872045.html. The lawyer claims that the fashion house made racist comments and treated Rihanna poorly during her 2008 campaign with the brand. Gucci fired back and said that the allegations were false. We’d think if the label did treat the pop star poorly, we would have first heard it through her twitter rants.
07. Selling Now: Spray Tans for Babies
As if getting botox when you’re 8 isn’t bad enough, we just got news that babies are getting their tans on – with spray cans. Thanks to an English beauty salon catered to kids 13 years and under, your little sister can also get manis/pedis, and fruit smoothie facials. Last time I checked kids drank their smoothies, not put them on their faces.
06. Seven Year Old Gets Boob Job
Okay, when you hear this, you’ll probably think spray tans for babies aren’t so bad after all. Donned the nickname “Human Barbie” last year, 50 year old momma gave her 7 year old daughter, Poppy, a voucher good for a boob job earlier this week. Although Poppy isn’t old enough to get her boobs done now, she’s able to use that voucher when she’s 16 (the legal age). Poppy’s response? “All my friends were jealous.” Right.
05. Solange Runs the ‘Makeup’ World
Beyonce may run the world, but we like to think that her younger sister, Solange is catching up. Rimmel’s new cover girl, Solange, is seen in this week’s ads covering the latest makeup looks for the Brit brand. Might we add that her short ’do totally matches her.
04. Spam Mail is Trustworthy to Buy From
When you check your email, how often do you check your spam folder? Maybe you’ll start checking it more now that researchers have found that many of those emails that end up in the spam folder actually are credible. Not only did the customers get their products in the mail, their credit card information was secure. Hmm, spam mail actually delivers (yes, pun intended).
03. Did Forever 21 Steal Jeffrey Campbell’s Designs?
What you may want to look out for are apparel copycats instead. Forever 21, famous for selling knockoffs/inspired pieces, is now being sued by Jeffrey Campbell for copying 6 of JC’s shoe designs. But, wait, JC is no angel either – those exact same shoe designs that F21’s getting the heat for look awfully like other high-end designers’ looks, too. Seriously, who’s copying who?
02. Say Bye to Functional Clothing!
NYTimes writer discusses how clothes have become more ‘hi-tech’ than ever, such as caffeinated leggings, sunscreen clothing, toning shoes, and spanx. What’s his explanation for this sudden plethora of techie clothes? Like technology, clothing needs updates from time to time. 01. DIY Your Bikini With a Printer
Speaking of hi-tech clothing, we’ve seen a wave of ‘diy’ projects involving other innovative clothing (i.e., starburst prom dress, dresses from melted cheese). Want to join in on the fun? First, go to the website, Continuum, and indicate the size you wear. Next, the company will print out these nylon snaps where you snap them together yourself to make a bikini. Congrats – you just assembled your very own 3D bikini without sewing! Don’t worry, these bikinis are waterproof and “comfortable when wet.”
