I love the casual, candid shots of the Kennedy’s and have taken a lot of style cues from Jackie O. I plan on applying what I’ve observed to my wardrobe this summer. Think 50’s prep meets 60’s beatnik. Think clean lines, crisp neutrals, and perfect tailoring, then add a touch of Hepburn. The funny thing is that it’s finally warmed up here, so I’m going to need to find a turtleneck that is not made of Merino Wool!
I know a lot of people talk about Audrey Hepburn, Jackie O, and Marilyn Monroe as style icons, and sometimes I want to separate myself from the crowd just so I don’t sound boring, because lets face it, after reading the 30000th blog about “how amazing Audrey Hepburn was!!! omgz” your eyes start to glaze over. But seriously folks, they really did look amazing. They are the icons that represented their generation. A lot of people dressed like them in the 50’s and 60’s, but Hepburn, Onassis, and Monroe wore more expensive versions and had their pictures published more often. Do your research and try adding some classic style rules to your own wardrobe. They are fail-proof (except for maybe the short-shorts Monroe wore. Those are hard to pull off sometimes).
