Get glam for a bash inspired by Tinsel Town and party like a star!
What & Where: Glitter lights and fancy (or faux fancy) table settings will make the night magical. Add white tablecloths for a touch of elegance, and a playlist of this summer’s biggest hits will lighten the mood. Host the party outside if the weather is nice!
What TO Wear: This is your chance to pull out that gorgeous dress that was always just a bit too fancy for a night on the town. Go all out with glitzy jewelry and red-carpet inspired hair and makeup. Look to Chictopians chichichicjb and FashionSheSays for inspiration.
Meal Plan: Choose foods that are easy to make and fun to eat—miniature anything is always a good choice for appetizers. Miniature Burger Recipe.
For the main dish, choose something fresh and light (and that won’t stain!) Lemon Vegetable Pasta Salad. For drinks, get classy with champagne glasses of Pellegrino (or real champagne if you’re of age).
Music Festival Party
Peace and love and too-indie-for-words music! Pretend you’re at Coachella and rock it out like a tried and true hipster.
What & Where: If you or any of your friends have an outdoor pool, head there first! If not, put a blow-up pool in the backyard, toss out some beach balls, and pump up the jams!
What TO Wear: Breezy, bohemian styles are best for a music fest. Don’t be afraid to show a bit more skin in a crop top or cutoffs; it’s appropriate for the event. Take a hint from Chictopians JeanGreige and Coconut. Also, check out this EIU article on festival wear!
Meal Plan: Festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo are famous for their delicious and unique carnival-style foods. Try your hand at recreating these treats with recipes like Homemade Gyros, Funnel Cakes, and Snow Cones.
Alice in Wonderland Party
Enjoy tea and crumpets in a fantasy world of your creation. Make sure you invite guests who are more timely than the Rabbit!
What & Where: Set up a picnic blanket in the sun and scatter some wildflowers around. Add some quirky touches, like stuffed animal guests!
What TO Wear: Wear a blue dress like Alice (and Chictopian Keiko_Lynn), a corset like the Queen of Hearts, or a crazy-cool blazer and bowtie à la the Mad Hatter. Interpret the theme more loosely in a pretty dress like Maria_Elyse. Accessorize with a vintage watch.
Meal Plan: Tea is obviously a must (bonus points if you have a cool teapot), try some fun flavors like Acaí Mango Zinger from Celestial Seasonings. Serve with pastries and sweet colorful foods, like fruit salad and jam on toast.
Whether you wish to be on the beaches of Bali or parading around Paris, create a party that matches your daydreams. These plans are up to you!
What & Where: Where have you always wanted to travel? Look at pictures of this place and mimic the setting.
What TO Wear: What would you wear if you were there? (A bathing suit in Bali, like bethanystruble, or a striped shirt and classic bag in Paris, like KristinaClemens.)
Meal Plan: Make or buy traditional and modern foods that your chosen destination is known for.
