Banana Republic kicked off the summer season by hosting a special After 5 event in all the major cities on Thursday, May 19th after 5pm! A few of your favorite San Francisco style bloggers came out to SF’s Banana Republic store to celebrate the warmer weather with shoppers by giving them styling tips. All customers received 25% off purchases of $100 or more (and the discount was online too!).
If you haven’t been to the Banana Republic store in San Francisco (on the corner of Grant and Sutter), it’s a beautiful, large space. Two stories with huge summery displays of Hawaiian luau styled plants and of course the summer collection (tank tops, shorts, platform sandals and maxi dresses) made me reminiscent of SoCal beaches. They even had a ping pong table!
After 5 was hosted by SF personal style bloggers Aimee Song of Song Of Style, Laura of On The Racks, and Amber of Amber’s Notebook. These lovely bloggers greeted guests and walked around Banana Republic helping shoppers style their wardrobes!
I followed Aimee as she was styling a guy looking for a graduation outfit for a family dinner. “Do you wear pink?” she asked him with a smile while he stood in front of his family. Her advice for the male style seeker who also happened to be Asian: “Because I’m Asian and I have dark hair, I like to wear lighter colors.” So she suggested he wear a light pink button up shirt with a nice gray jacket on top. He seemed more than pleased, with his family saying that “[Aimee] knows what looks good!”
Other Bay Area Chictopians that came were Jenny from Going West and Christina Topacio from Pro Fresh Style. If you attended the After 5 event in Washington DC, you would’ve ran into E of District of Chic!
To add to the excitement, Banana Republic had Virgin America there with their lovely flight attendants who were giving away a round-trip airfare and a four day, three night stay at The Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles to one lucky raffle winner! With everyone shopping, drinking sangria, having some yummy hors d’oeuvres, and receiving a free H20+ sample, it was a great shopping event!
