From cat fur jewelry to how John Galliano may go to jail, we’re covering some of the best ugly gossip out there! Here’s this week’s Ugly Gossip featuring the good, the bad, and the (really) UGLY!
10. Kate Middleton’s Stylist Uses Claire’s Tiara to Style the Wedding Hairdo
The wedding was indeed weeks ago, but we can’t help ourselves from still talking about it. It seems that Kate Middleton’s hairstylist, Jason Pryce, is a big fan of Claire’s, since that’s where he got a $10 plastic tiara to use to practice for Kate’s wedding ‘do. We’re sure Claire’s wouldn’t mind sponsoring Mr. Pryce for an upcoming ad for their store!
9. Danielle Steel Claims that San Francisco Got No Style
Danielle Steel may be an expert in the romance department (hey, she gets paid to write about sweaty half-naked men!), but we’re not so sure about the style department. In the recent Wall Street Journal interview, Danielle claimed to love Prada, Chanel, and Givenchy. However, what she didn’t love was her past residency, San Francisco, saying that the city “[has] no style, [and] nobody dresses up – you can’t be chic there.” Now, if she’d read our San Francisco Style column, we’re sure she’d think otherwise!
8. CONFIRMED: George Clooney Doesn’t Wear Long Jean Shorts And Isn’t Gay
Not too long ago, George Clooney was seen wearing long jean shorts, advertising for his CG Exclusive designer clothing line in Italy. Turns out that it was a photoshopped Clooney (his head was plastered onto somebody’s horrible outfit), and he even took it to the courts in Italy, suing the men who falsely used his name (and body). And even worse, if y’all can recall, one of the men even claimed to be one of George’s lovers – um, ew? No need to worry though, earlier this week, Georgie won the case! This once again proves that “bad taste (in Clooney’s case, those long jean shorts) [definitely] leads to crime.”
7. John Galliano May End Up In Jail
In other court-related news, John Galliano, who was charged for spewing the words, “I love Hitler,” will be facing French judges on June 22. Turns out the French government is quite strict on these types of insults – caught Frenchmen can face up to six months in jail and be fined up to 22,500 euros (approx. $32,000). If he does face jail time, at least we’ll know he’s the most fashionable one there. Okay maybe, the second most fashionable in jail.
6. Derek Lam X Ebay: Finally Here!
On a happier note, here’s a recent collab that is totallly legit. Derek Lam presented an exclusively designed collection for Ebay earlier this year in New York. The cool thing about the event was that the audience could cast their votes on which five designs would be sold on Ebay. Those five designs were finally released earlier this week on May 10. Shop the five winners here (we promise you that you’ll be pleasantly delighted)!
5. Got Low Self-Esteem? Then You May Have Too Many Jeans
Ever look in your closet and thought to yourself, “How the heckos did I end up with 10 pairs of similar looking jeans?” And to answer that question, have you ever thought of how you were feeling when you bought those? It’s a no brainer that us gals usually go for ‘retail therapy’ when we are feeling down or feeling bad about ourselves. To prove this usually happens, a study released earlier this week showed that those with lower IQs (this can happen to those who are feeling bad/low at the time) tend to shop more. So, next time you’re out shopping alone, think about whether or not this study holds true!
4. To Smell Good All Over, Just Eat Candy!
Seems that if you eat this type of candy, you’ll end up smelling roses, and the scent supposedly lasts for hours. How it works is that as you’re sucking on the candy, your pores on your skin will release a perfumey-scent, which will stay longer than traditional perfumes (since you’re just spraying ’em on). Seems that the ingredient in the candy, geraniol, also serves as a great mosquito repellent but unfortunately attracts bees. Wow, a 4-in-1 product. Hmm, and to think that book-scented fragrances seemed pretty novel!
3. American Apparel’s CEO Loves ‘Good Hookers’
You may know him by now since we’ve mentioned the American Apparel‘s CEO, Dov Charney, a couple of times in our weekly Ugly Gossip column. But, this week, we think you’ll know him a little bit more. During a webinar on Wednesday, Dov Charney led the virtual meeting via his personal desktop with other American Apparel store managers. Turns out while Charney was busy talking about sales and such, one attendee took a screenshot pic of his browser – and here’s what he/she saw (and what the rest of the world saw):
1.20,000+ unread email – Talk about a selective process of reading emails, he must be really busy in order not to delete unwanted email.
2. Bookmark pages to a porn site, Kelly Kine videos, and a label to “good hookers” – Oh, so this is possibly why he wasn’t able to read those emails.
2. Cat Lovers Unite for Jewelry
Did you know that there is an actual National Hairball Awareness Day? We didn’t know that until this week, when websites everywhere (MTV, Refinery29, Ecouterre, and The Hairpin) went gaga over this holiday. Why? They all mentioned Kat Benjamin, blogger of Moderncat and the gal who kicked off the the awareness day with a collection of elegant jewelry for cat lovers united. Sounds chic already, but her a-line materials? Cat fur! Hmm, it kind of gives that girl with the candy wrapper prom dress a run for its money, doesn’t it?
1. Triple the Gaga, Triple the Goodness
What’s better than having one Lady Gaga on a magazine cover? THREE Lady Gagas, that’s what. In the first upcoming V Magazine: Asia Issue, Lady Gaga embraces the cover which features her “monster” side, a three-headed Lady Gaga with two of them adorned with sequins and sparkly embellishments.
